World Laughter Day is celebrated on the first Sunday in May each year. Traditionally laughter clubs across the world meet at midday to send a continual ripple of laughter around the globe, across all the timezones – for 24 hours; we tickle the whole world with laughter!
World Laughter Day 2016 will be on Sunday 1st May and Laughter For Health and Edinburgh Laughter will be celebrating with a FREE laughter session “Laughter on The Mound – A Fundraiser for Parkinson’s Disease” – see Facebook event here: https://www.facebook.com/events/524736021043977/
The laughter session is FREE and open to anyone but we would appreciate donations to Parkinson’s UK.
So come and join us for this year’s celebration of World Laughter Day – we come together to laugh – to feel good, express joy and fun, connect as a community and raise money for Parkinsons Disease – 2 of my regulars have Parkinsons and laughter club has helped them enormously 🙂 – we FEEL GOOD from the laughter and we DO GOOD supporting an amazing cause!
We will be meeting at 11:45 at the blue Police Box (bottom of The Mound on Princes St – near the bus stop – opposite BHS and just along from the ).
If its raining we will find shelter in the covered seating in Princes St Gardens (just along from the floral clock) but let’s hope for a rain/snow/sleet/hailstones/shower free day ha ha ha ha!!
Please arrive in time for 11:45 so that we all find a place to laugh together otherwise you may miss out if you can’t find us!
Join us!! And laugh yourself happier and healthier!
More information will follow shortly! Ask to be added to my mailing list to be sure you don’t miss out!
See below for information about what we did last year…
Edinburgh Laughter Club celebrated on Sunday 3rd May 2014 with a FREE laughter session at midday in The Meadows – weather just about held for us; the previous year was GLORIOUS!!! But the rain just stayed away – phew!
It really is something else to experience laughter yoga outdoors in the fresh air – just as it is practiced daily in parks across India where it originates.
We started with a statement from Dr Madan Kataria – founder of Laughter Yoga International – Global Movement for Health, Joy and World Peace (www.laughteryoga.org) – “When you laugh, you change and when you change the whole world changes around you.” Dr. Madan Kataria.
We then had some fun and play with exercises designed to relax and boost our creativity, then did some laughter yoga (laughter exercises with breathing, clapping and movement) and the session culminated with a laughter meditation – everyone lying down and giggling themselves silly to feel healthier, happier, younger and amazing for days to come!
Whether you have been to one of my laughter clubs, sessions or workshops or not – everyone is always welcome every year!
We met 11.50 in The Meadows at the start of Melville Drive (Tollcross end – Brougham Street/Brougham Place) – opposite the pedestrian crossing going into/from Leven Terrace/Valleyfield St (opp Scotmid) – there is a statue encircled in a fence – we laugh there!
